Our Story

CALDAC (Colorado Afro Latin Dance and Arts Collective)began in 2013 as the Denver Salsa Bachata Congress — a grassroots effort created to bring people together through music, dance, and culture.

What started as a local dance event quickly grew into something much larger.

As the community expanded across Colorado, so did the vision. Over time, the organization evolved into CALDAC to better reflect the full range of Afro Latin, Afro Caribbean, and Afro-diasporic traditions we now celebrate through year-round cultural arts programming.

Today, CALDAC serves youth, families, artists, and community members throughout Colorado through dance classes, workshops, performances, youth education initiatives, public cultural activations, and our flagship annual event, CALDAC Convention.

At the heart of our work is the belief that dance and music are more than entertainment — they are tools for connection, cultural preservation, confidence, healing, and community.

We are passionate about creating welcoming spaces where people of all backgrounds and experience levels can learn, grow, express themselves, and experience culturally grounded arts in an accessible and meaningful way.

Through scholarships, low-cost programming, free community events, and artist development opportunities, CALDAC continues working to expand access to Afro Latin arts and culture across Colorado.
